    • What is the difference between iSP6 and iSP8?

      The iSP8 includes a remote control and power consumption meter within the app.

    • I can operate my iSP6 / iSP8 with the iHome Control App. What is the benefit of using a remote control?

      The remote control will allow you to use (RF) radio frequency to control the SmartPlug(s). Wi-Fi access is not necessary to operate the SmartPlug(s) when using a remote control. In addition, the remote control allows others in the household to operate the SmartPlug(s) without the need to access a mobile device.

    • How many iSP6/iSP8 SmartsPlugs can I connect to 1 remote control?

      The SmartPlug Remote ISPR4 has 4 buttons. You may pair as many SmartPlugs as desired to each button.

    • What type of frequency does the remote control use?

      (RF) radio frequency 433.92 MHz

    • How do I pair a remote control to a Smartplug?

      There are two options:

      1. Disconnect the iSP6/iSP8 plug for a few seconds and reconnect to the power outlet. Then press power on the desired button on the remote within 15 seconds after reconnecting the iSP6/iSP8 plug. The remote is paired and ready to use.

      2. You can pair the remote through the iHome Control app.

      a. Make sure you are within the remote control’s signal range (within 35 feet).

      b. Make sure the Smartplug is connected to a working outlet.

      c. Make sure the SmartPlug is connected to a personal Wi-Fi Network.

      d. Open the iHome Control app.

      e. Tap Devices.

      f. Tap (i) next to the device name.

      g. Scroll down and tap “Initiate Remote Control Pairing.”

      h. On the REMOTE CONTROL, press & release the button you want to pair to the SmartPlug(s).

      i. At the bottom of the screen you will see a message “Remote Control Paired Successfully.”

      NOTE: The remote is paired and ready to use.

    • What is the operating distance of the remote control?

      Approx. 35ft.

    • Will the remote control lose its pairing after changing its batteries?

      No, the remote will remain paired.

    • Will a SmartPlug reset undue the pairing of the remote control?

      No, the remote will remain paired.

    • How many functions can be performed by the remote control?

      The SmartPlug Remote ISPR4 has 4 ON/OFF buttons. Each button is an individual function.

    • Can I connect my SmartPlug at work or in my dorm room?

      The SmartPlug is designed to function within personal Wi-Fi networks. It is not compatible with Enterprise Wi-Fi Networks such as in colleges or businesses.

    • Can I control my SmartPlug using Android voice commands?

      Voice control is not available for Android devices.

    • Can I use Siri to control a SmartPlug?

      Yes. Use keywords such as the designated "room" name and the word "outlet."

    • Can I setup zones, rooms, and scenes using my Android device?

      The options to set zones, rooms, and scenes are available for iOS devices only. Android users can control individual SmartPlugs.

    • How to delete the Smart Device from the iHome Control App?

      *Note: The "Hide" option removes the SmartPlug from the user's account. However, the SmartPlug(s) still exists in the cloud. This allows other registered users in the household to continue using the SmartPlug(s).

      1. Open the iHome Control App
      2. Select (i) next to the Device you want to remove.
      3. Scroll down and select "Remove Device" button.
      4. Select "Remove Device" again
      5. Close the app.

      Note: We recommend resetting the Smartplug to remove it from your account.

    • How to name my Home?

      The iHome Control App will ask you to name your home. In other words, name the Wi-Fi network inside your home. Examples: Jane’s Home; John’s Apartment.

    • How to setup a Room?

      You can setup 1 or more SmartPlugs in a room (iOS only). Examples: bedroom, dining room, living room, kitchen, etc. You can control all SmartPlugs simultaneously in each designated room.

      1. Open the iHome Control App.
      2. Select the “Home” icon at the bottom of the screen.
      3. Select “Rooms.”
      4. Select “Add Room.”
      5. Enter the room name (ex. Kitchen), then select “Done.”

      You should see “Kitchen” listed under the rooms category.

    • How to setup a Zone?

      You can setup multiple zones in your home (iOS only). For example; you may setup a zone in the ground floor of your home and another zone in the 2nd floor. You can control all SmartPlugs simultaneously in each designated zone.

      1. Open the iHome Control App.
      2. Select the “Home” icon at the bottom of the screen.
      3. Select “Zones.”
      4. Select “Add Zone.”
      5. Enter the zone name (ex. Ground Floor), then select “Done”

      You should see “Ground Floor” listed under the Zones category.

    • How to add a Scene?

      A scene can be set for a combination of SmartPlugs in different rooms or zones (iOS only). For example; you may develop a Scene for the “Holiday Season.” You may have a combination of decorative lights in multiple zones or rooms that you want illuminated at night. You can control all SmartPlugs simultaneously in each designated Scene.

      1. Open the iHome Control App.
      2. Select the “Scenes” icon at the bottom of the screen.
      3. Select “Add Scenes.”
      4. Select “Label” and enter the Scene name (ex. Holiday Season).
      5. Optional - select “Choose a New Image” if you want to add an image. Otherwise, skip to step 7.
      6. Select “Take a photo” or “Use image from Library.”
      7. Select “Add Device” to add SmartPlugs that will be part of your Scene.
      8. Select “Done” to complete the process.
    • Can I download the iHome Control App to my computer for use with my SmartPlug(s)?

      The SmartPlug is designed to work with mobile devices only; not Mac’s or PC’s.

    • Which devices can be used to share a SmartPlug(s)?

      iOS to iOS = Supported [Example: iPhone to iPhone]

      iOS to Android = Supported [Example: iPhone to Samsung Galaxy]

      Android to Android = Supported [Example: Samsung Galaxy to Samsung Galaxy]

      Android to iOS = NOT Supported [Example: Samsung Galaxy to iPhone]

    • How many rules can I create for one plug?

      You can setup a maximum of 7 rules per plug.

    • How do I Reset the SmartPlug?

      Connect the Smart plug to a working outlet. The LED indicator will start flashing Green. Press and hold the power button on the top right of the plug for a full 15 seconds. You should see the following while holding the button:

      1. The LED indicator should flash Red/Green.
      2. The LED indicator will turn off briefly.
      3. The LED indicator will quickly flash Green.

      You may release the button at this point.

    • How do I know if my mobile device is connected to my home network?

      For Apple Devices: Tap on the Settings icon. The Wi-Fi icon should display the name of your home network next to it. If it is not shown, tap on the Wi-Fi icon. Your Apple device will search for networks in the vicinity. Select your home network. Once your home network is displayed, you may exit Settings.

    • Where can I download the iHome Control App?

      You can download the app for free in the App Store or Google Play,

    • Where can I find the Accessory Setup Code?

      The Accessory Setup Code can be found in your Quick Start Guide and on the Smart device itself.

    • What iOS version is required for the SmartPlug?

      iOS 9.0 or later

    • What Android version is required for the SmartPlug?

      Android KitKat 4.4 or latest

    • What are the SmartPlug's Specifications?

      120VAC, 15A, 60Hz, 1800W Indoor use only Compatible with 2.4 GHz network. Compatible with (Personal Wi-Fi networks).

    • What can I control with the SmartPlug?

      You can control lamps, fans, humidifiers, or any appliance meeting the SmartPlug's specifications (120VAC, 15A, 60Hz, 1800W).

    • How many SmartPlugs can I connect to my home network?

      There are no quantity restrictions. It depends on your Wi-Fi Network capabilities and you can connect as many SmartPlugs as you want!

    • Can I connect my SmartPlug to an enterprise network; example: business or college dorm?

      No. SmartPlugs are designed for home networks only.

    • What is the Cloud's storage capability?

      The Cloud does not have any storage limitations.

    • What is a Rule?

      Think of a rule as a timer. For example; you can set a rule to turn a lamp ON at 8:00PM and OFF at 6:00AM the following day.

    • How to set a Rule?

      1. Open the app.
      2. Tap “Devices” at the button of the screen.
      3. Tap (i) next to the Smartplug you want to create the rule for.
      4. Under RULES, Tap (+) Add rule.
      5. Enter the name you would like to call the rule (i.e. Fan Timer).
      6. Tap “Starts” - this is the time you would like the device to turn ON, make sure to select AM or PM.
      7. Tap “End” - this is the time you would like the device to turn OFF, make sure to select AM or PM.
      8. If you would like the device to never turn “OFF,” activate the “Never End” feature "ON". Otherwise, skip this step.
      9. Tap “Done” on the top right of the app screen to complete the setup.

    • I can't "add a device" to my "iHome Control App."

      A. Make sure that the plug is connected to a working outlet. Press and hold the power button on the corner of the plug for a full 15 seconds. This process will reset the plug. You should see the following while holding the button:

      • The LED indicator will flash Red/Green.
      • The LED indicator will turn off briefly.
      • The LED indicator will quickly flash Green. Release the button at this point.

      B. Go to Settings > iCloud on your iOS Device (iPhone/iPad). Turn ON your iCloud Drive and Keychain.

      C. Reset your iOS device (iPhone/iPad). Press and hold the Sleep/Wake/Power button and the Home button located at the front bottom of your iOS device (If iPhone 7: Volume (–) button and the Home button). Keep holding both buttons until the screen goes dark and the Apple logo appears on the screen. It will take about a minute for the iOS device to complete the reset process.

      D. If you have a Dual Band Router make sure your device (iPhone/iPad) is connected to a 2.4 GHz, Wi-Fi Network. The SmartPlug is not compatible with 5.0 Ghz Wi-Fi Networks or enterprise networks such as in college dorms and businesses.

      E. Go to your iOS Device (iPhone/iPad).

      • Tap “SETTINGS.”
      • Choose the “Wi-Fi Network” you want to use for your SmartPlug.
      • Scroll Down and Tap on the "iHOME SMARTPLUG xxxxxx."
      • Tap "NEXT" on the top right.
      • Tap "DONE" when the accessory has joined your chosen network. F. Open the “iHome Control App.”
      • Select “ADD DEVICE.” Make sure the plug is connected to an outlet.
      • Tap “NEXT” to search for the device.
      • Select “iHOME SMARTPLUG-xxxxxx” and Tap “CONTINUE.”
      • You will see a popup message (Add Accessory to Network), Tap “ALLOW” – to set up Device.
      • Enter the accessory code manually or use your device’s camera to read the accessory code on the plug (DO NOT disconnect the SmartPlug).
      • Select how you will be using the plug (i.e Light, Fan, Other, etc.) and Tap “NEXT.”
      • Name the plug (i.e. Reading Lamp) and Tap “Next.”
      • Tap “SKIP” or you can “Assign to a room” (i.e. Living Room).
      • The setup process should be complete.

      • IF NECESSARY:

      • NOTE: If the issue persists, delete the Home you initially created in the “iHome Control App” and in the “Apple Home App” if applicable.

      G. To delete a Home in the “iHome Control App.”

      • Open the green “iHome Control App.”
      • Tap the name of the Home you created at the top of the screen.
      • Tap “Edit” at the top right corner.
      • Scroll down and tap “Delete Home.”

      H. To delete a Home in the “Apple Home App.” (If Applicable)

      • Open the orange “Apple Home App.”
      • Tap Edit.
      • Tap the name of the Home you created.
      • Scroll down and Tap “Remove Home.”

      I. Start the initial setup process again.

    • My Scene turns some of the assigned SmartPlugs ON and some OFF?

      Powering ON or OFF depends on the position of the switch under the Scene > DEVICES. For example: If you have two plugs in a scene named “A” and “B”: • If plug “A” has the switch in the ON position it will turn ON. • If plug “B” has the switch in the OFF position it will turn OFF.

    • Can I create a scene to turn OFF a group of SmartPlugs when I leave my home and turn ON when I return home?

      You would need to create two scenes. You may use the two preloaded scenes titled “I’m leaving” and “I’m home.” Assign the desired SmartPlugs to both scenes.

      A. Scene one “I’m leaving.” The switch next to all assign SmartPlugs should be in the OFF position. B. Scene two “I’m home.” The switch next to all assigned SmartPlugs should be in the ON position.

      Note: As a result, scene “I’m leaving” will turn OFF the SmartPlugs and scene “I’m home” will turn ON the SmartPlugs.

    • Why is it important to select the appropriate “Service Type”?

      The Service Type selected helps Siri identify your SmartPlug better. Siri can identify if your SmartPlug is connected to a light, fan, coffee maker, etc.

    • I can't "add a device" to my "iHome Control App."
